Peacekeeping in Lebanon
Troops pledged for UN force:
Under UN Resolution 1701 authorisation has been passed for an expansion of the peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon from 2,000 to 15,000 soldiers.
UN officials in New York say that the French will lead the mission with Italy as number two and the deployment of 3,500 soldiers should begin within 10 days.
So far pledged numbers amount to:
